For more than 40 years the name Charles Gaylord has been associated with fine antique European mantels, garden ornaments, and French furniture. Founded in SanFrancisco by Charles William Gaylord in 1961, the business has grown into one of the world's foremost resources for 18th and 19th century French marble mantels and exceptional fireplace accessories.

With an undeniable sense of style and connoisseurship, Mr. Gaylord spent his early years in the business searching Paris and the French countryside for extraordinary and unusual pieces, quickly acquiring a reputation both here and abroad as an acknowledged expert in French chimneypieces.. Gradually his interests grew to include fine and unusual garden furniture and decorations, French provencal furniture, exceptional chenets and fireplace tools,and ultimately, all things French. His keen eye, sharp wit, and passion for collecting made him a natural in his field. Before his untimely death in 1996, Charles Gaylord counted among his friends and clients some of the world's most respected designers and decorators, television and movie celebrities, corporate and world leaders, heads-of-state, and many others who, like himself, loved fine things.

Today, Charles Gaylord & Co. begins its fifth decade with the opening of a new showroom in the San Francisco Design Center. Under the watchful eye and new vision of Charles Gaylord's son, Ray Gaylord and his business partner, Anthony Barreiro, the company's newest facility will specialize in exceptional antique mantels, fireplace accessories, fine French 18th and 19th century furniture & extraordinary decorations.
